This silk ribbon embroidery composition was the center detail from the front of a vintage sachet, circa 1920. Each flower petal and leaf is made with an embroidery stitch. The stems and flower centers have been stitched with silk thread. Silk Ribbon Embroidery Silk Ribbon Embroidery, on the other hand, is just that: embroidering with ribbons. With delicate, narrow silk ribbons threaded through a large-eyed chenille needle, each flower and leaf is created with a particular embroidery stitch. Ribbon embroidery is often enhanced with embroidery threads used as stems, tiny flower centers, and leaf details.
Cut the ribbon after the amount of tail you want is determined. • Use the knot technique as a bud or flower. Simply tie a plain knot and tuck the raw edges under the knot. Secure with stitches at the back of the knot. It’s a bit fiddly, but the result is nice. The three-knot flower buds are made from 1" wide velvet, 1" wide pink double-faced silk-satin ribbon, and 1½" wide wire-edge ribbon.
